courtme.ai Age Policy

1. Age requirement

courtme is strictly 18+. You must be at least 18 years old to create an account or use any courtme service.

Where local law requires a higher age of majority (e.g., 19 in some US states, 21 for certain activities), you must meet that age.

2. Verification

We enforce the 18+ rule in layers:

• Age gate on signup: you confirm date of birth
• Server-side enforcement: the date of birth you give is checked by our database itself, on every write. A date of birth under 18 is rejected outright, before a profile can be used and before any matching or chat. The check runs below the app, so it cannot be bypassed by the app or by anyone using our API.
• No under-18 profile, and the sign-up deleted: a rejected sign-up never gets a profile, a match or a message. The sign-in record itself (email or phone) is deleted by a scheduled job that runs daily, about 30 days after your most recent sign-up attempt - trying again with the same email or phone restarts that 30 days. After it runs we keep only a record that a rejection happened, with nothing in it that identifies anyone.
• Reports: tell us at safety@courtme.ai, or report the profile in the app, if you believe someone is under 18. We may suspend or remove an account while we look into it.

What we do not do today. courtme does not check a government ID and does not run a selfie-to-ID face match. The Stripe Identity verification and the face match described in our Biometric Data Notice belong to the courtme dating product, which has not launched. So the 18+ rule today rests on the date of birth you give us, enforced by the server-side check above: it is a declared date of birth that we enforce, not a verified identity document. Treat other people you meet through courtme accordingly.

Providing a false date of birth is grounds for permanent ban and may be a criminal offense (e.g., identity fraud).

3. If we suspect a minor

• If the age gate indicates a user is under 18, we block account creation and then delete the sign-up data (including email and phone number) from our systems about 30 days after the most recent attempt, keeping only the minimal non-identifying information needed to prevent immediate re-registration. No profile, matches, or messages are created for an under-18 user.
• For an already-created account we later suspect belongs to a minor, we immediately suspend it
• We may ask the account holder for proof of age (courtme has no in-app ID check; see Section 2)
• We delete the account and any associated data
• For content depicting a minor in a sexual context, we report to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC) via the CyberTipline as required by US law (18 USC §2258A) and cooperate with law enforcement

4. If you're under 18

Do not use courtme. We are not designed for you and using courtme would violate our Terms of Service. You can wait until you are 18; we'll still be here.

If you are a minor and have created an account, please email safety@courtme.ai with your name and email associated with the account. We will delete the account and data, no questions asked.

5. If you're a parent or guardian

If you discover a minor in your care is using courtme:

• Email safety@courtme.ai with the username or email of the account
• We will delete the account within 7 days of confirming which account it is
• For urgent safety concerns involving the minor, please also contact local law enforcement

6. COPPA compliance

We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13 (or other applicable age under COPPA). Because our service is 18+ in all cases, COPPA's primary applications should not arise, but we apply COPPA's protections by removing any data we discover was collected from a minor.

7. Reporting suspected minors on courtme

If you suspect another user is under 18, report them via the in-app Report button or email safety@courtme.ai. We will investigate within 24 hours.
