courtme.ai Safety Guidelines

courtme exists to help you go on great dates safely. Read this before your first date.

1. Before the date

• Meet in public. First dates should be in busy, well-lit places: coffee shops, restaurants, bars. Avoid private homes, isolated venues, or remote areas.
• Tell someone. Let a friend or family member know who you're meeting, where, and when. Share your live location with them if possible.
• Add an emergency contact. courtme asks you to add an emergency contact during onboarding. We send them an SMS (via our provider, Twilio) if you don't check in 90 minutes into your date. Only add someone who has agreed to this - by adding them, you confirm you have their permission for us to text them for your safety. We keep that message brief and share only what's needed.
• Verify your match. Identity verification is required to use courtme, but no system is perfect. If something feels off, trust your gut.
• Don't share sensitive info too soon. Save your home address, workplace, financial details, and identification for later.
• Drive yourself or use rideshare. Don't let a date you don't yet know give you a ride to or from the first meeting.

2. During the date

• You can leave anytime. No explanation required.
• Watch your drink. Don't accept open drinks from anyone. Keep your drink in sight.
• Stay sober enough to leave. Date drinking is fine; impaired isn't.
• courtme's safety check-in: We'll send a notification ~90 minutes into your scheduled date. Tap "I'm safe" or "I need help." If you don't respond within a short window, we may notify your emergency contact.
• If you feel unsafe: leave immediately. If urgent, call 911 (US). courtme is not a substitute for emergency services.

3. After the date

• Submit honest feedback. Did the date happen? Do you want to see them again? Did anything go wrong?
• Report anything serious. If your date was abusive, threatening, dishonest about their identity, or behaved inappropriately, report via the app's "Report" button or email safety@courtme.ai.
• Block freely. Blocking removes mutual visibility. We do not notify the other person.

4. Red flags to watch for

• Pushes to meet at their home, your home, or somewhere private on the first date
• Asks for money, gift cards, or financial information (this is a romance scam; report immediately)
• Pressures you to leave courtme for unmonitored platforms quickly
• Profile photos look too professional or model-like (reverse image search if suspicious)
• Refuses to do a brief video call before meeting
• Story doesn't add up; details change
• Hostile, rushed, or controlling communication

5. Romance scams

courtme does zero-tolerance of romance scams. If anyone:

• Asks you to send money, gift cards, or crypto
• Asks for help "investing" or "trading"
• Asks for your banking info, ID copies, or social security number
• Has a sudden emergency requiring money before you've met
• Refuses video calls but maintains intense emotional contact

Stop communicating, report them in-app, and email safety@courtme.ai.

If you have already sent money, contact your bank and report to the FTC at reportfraud.ftc.gov and the FBI at ic3.gov.

6. What courtme does (and doesn't) do

We do:

• Verify identities via Stripe Identity at sign-up
• Moderate photos with AI + human review
• Run 90-minute safety check-ins for in-person dates
• Send emergency contact notifications when check-ins fail
• Review reports promptly
• Ban users for violations of our Community Guidelines and Terms

We do not:

• Conduct criminal background checks
• Monitor in-person date conversations
• Guarantee any user is who they say they are
• Replace emergency services
• Verify employment or financial claims

7. Reporting

• In-app: every profile has a Report button
• Email: safety@courtme.ai
• Emergency: call 911 (US) or your local emergency number
• Sex offenders or child safety concerns: contact NCMEC at 1-800-843-5678 (CyberTipline)
• Romance scams / fraud: reportfraud.ftc.gov + ic3.gov

We aim to respond to safety reports within 24 hours.

9. Our safety commitments

• We act on reports promptly
• We do not require evidence beyond your account of an incident to act
• We do not pressure users to "work it out" with people they report
• We do not share your identity with the person you reported without your consent (except where compelled by law)
• We are continuously improving our safety tools; feedback welcome at safety@courtme.ai

10. Updates

We update these guidelines as we learn more. Material changes will be communicated.
