Delete your account

Last updated: July 28, 2026

You can delete your courtme account and the personal data attached to it at any time. You do not need to install or reinstall the app to make the request. This page explains both routes, exactly what happens and when, and the small set of records we keep afterward and why.

Two ways to delete

1. In the app (immediate)

Open courtme and go to Settings → Account & privacy → Delete account. Confirm on the sheet that appears. The effect is immediate and you keep a 30-day window to change your mind.

The same screen has Download your data, which gives you a copy of your profile, photos, matches, and messages. If you want your data, export it before you delete.

2. By email (no app needed)

Email us from the address on your courtme account, or tell us the phone number you signed up with, and ask us to delete the account. We verify that the request comes from the account holder before acting, then run the same deletion described below. Expect confirmation within 30 days, and sooner in practice.

What happens, and when

Immediately

Your profile stops being visible to everyone else. You disappear from every event list and from the people you have connected with. Your account is marked deleted and a permanent purge is scheduled 30 days out.

For the next 30 days

Nothing is destroyed yet, and you can cancel. Sign back in and choose Cancel deletion, or email us, and your account and profile are restored in full. This window exists so an accidental or angry tap is recoverable.

After 30 days

The purge runs and is not reversible. Your account row and everything that hangs off it are permanently deleted, including your login credentials.

What is deleted

The purge removes your account itself along with the data tied to it, including:

  • Your name, email address, phone number, date of birth, and gender
  • Your uploaded photos, both the records and the stored image files
  • Your profile text, the answers you gave the AI matchmaker, and what it inferred from them
  • Your event participation, your matches and connections, and your chat messages
  • Your likes, blocks, and reports you filed
  • Your push notification tokens and your saved home ZIP code

What we keep, and why

A short, deliberate list survives the purge. We are naming it here rather than claiming deletion removes absolutely everything, because that claim would not be true.

  • Anonymized financial records. Where you have paid us, the transaction record is kept with your identity removed. Tax and financial audit rules require us to retain proof that a payment happened; they do not require us to retain who made it, so we keep the amount and reason and drop the link to you.
  • Anonymized AI request logs, for up to 90 days. We log the requests our AI features make so we can audit and account for them. These logs can contain profile text. On deletion the link to your account is removed, and the log itself is purged on its own 90-day cycle, so it ages out shortly after you leave rather than at the moment you leave.
  • A bare age-check record. If an under-18 signup attempt was blocked, we keep a row containing only a random identifier and a timestamp. It holds no date of birth and no personal information, and it exists so we can show that our 18+ gate was enforced.
  • Content already reported by someone else. Where another person reported a message or a profile, we may retain what is needed to handle that report and to keep the people involved safe. We also keep records we are legally required to preserve, for as long as that obligation lasts.

Messages you sent to another person are removed from your account. Bear in mind that anything you shared directly with someone, in a chat or otherwise, may still exist in their own copy or in their memory. Deleting your account cannot reach that.

Deleting some data without deleting your account

You do not have to close your account to remove things. Under Settings → My matchmaking profile you can see what the AI matchmaker holds about you and erase it, either the profile it built for one side of the app or everything it has learned. Individual photos and your profile details can be changed or removed from your profile screen. If you want a specific category of data removed and cannot find the control for it, email privacy@courtme.ai and ask.

Your other privacy rights

Depending on where you live you may also have the right to access your data, correct it, restrict how we use it, or object to a particular use. See the Privacy Policy for the full description and how to exercise each one, and the Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information page for the advertising opt-out.
